Smeal College Entrance to Major Requirements - Archive of previous years' requirements

Overview

Students admitted to Penn State are enrolled in pre-major status while pursuing their interested major. All Penn State majors have established enrollment requirements which can range from an acceptable Grade Point Average (GPA) up to meeting competitive course, unit (credit), and GPA standards within a defined period. In the Smeal College of Business, the requirements for entering a major require careful planning along with a dedicated commitment to performing at a high academic level.

Students interested in a Smeal College major follow the guidelines and requirements that are in place for each major at the time they first entered Penn State. Known as the Entrance to Major (ETM) process, applying and entering a major occurs within a defined window of completed Penn State cumulative units (credits), attainment of an established minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA), and completion or in-progress in all prescribed ETM courses within a defined period.

Entrance to Major (ETM) requirements are established annually based on enrollment patterns at Penn State for each incoming class. Students select the ETM requirements below that align with the Academic Year they entered Penn State.
