How to become a Smeal Student Organization

Not finding an organization that interests you at Smeal. You can create your own student organization. First you must become a Recognized Student Organization (RSO) with Penn State's Office of Student Leadership and Involvement. You can start that process by checking the New Organization resources here: https://studentaffairs.psu.edu/get-involved/student-organizations/starting-organization and contact studentorg@psu.edu with questions or stop by HUB 103! Once you have successfully created your organization you will meet with the President of the Smeal Student Council and articulate a difference of your organization from all the other Smeal Organizations. When that is complete, you will present your organization to the Smeal Student Organization Presidents with a 10 minute presentation and then the Presidents will vote on it. You will become a Smeal Student Organization with a simple majority vote. For more information or questions please reach out to Becky Winge, Smeal Student Engagement Coordinator at raw5960@psu.edu.

Organizational Resources

Are you part of an organization that is currently recognized by the Smeal College of Business? The Organization Resources page will provide you links to important information, websites, and forms needed to inform us about what is currently going on in your organization, as well as how we can assist you with upcoming events, current campaigns, etc.

Smeal Ethical Leadership Challenge

Another way to become more engaged in Smeal is to get involved in The Smeal Ethical Leadership Challenge (SELC). SELC, which is organized by the Tarriff Center and other departments within Smeal, focuses on improving students’ self-leadership. The challenge has multiple levels, beginning with a focus on building skills and experiences and creating new relationships that will support students’ development into strong leaders—all while putting into action their commitment to the Penn State values. Students completing the challenge will be able to highlight the experience on their resumes, distinguishing them as future leaders. Find out more about SELC here!
