Overview
This interdisciplinary minor is designed for students in every curriculum at Penn State. The Management Information Systems courses combined with other functional areas of study will enable students to gain understanding of the strategies, issues, and best practices for aligning information technology planning and use with business strategy in the global digital economy.
A minimum of 20-22 credits is required with at least six credits at the 400 level. A grade of "C" of higher is required in all courses for the ISM minor.
ISM Course Requirements — Program Year 2009
- Take one of the following Business Law combinations
- B A 241 (2) Legal Environment of Business and B A 242 (2) Social and Ethical Environment of Business
- B A 243 (4) Social, Legal, and Ethical Environment of Business
- Take one of the following Supply Chain courses
- B A 302 (2) Supply Chains (Smeal majors)
- SCM 310 (3) Introduction to Operations Management (non-Smeal majors)
- Take one of the following Management courses
- B A 304 (2) Management and Organization (Smeal majors)
- MGMT 301 (3) Basic Management Concepts (non-Smeal majors)
- Take the following Management Information Systems courses
