Professor James Hamerstone and Lindsay Musser Hough, a Deloitte consultant, will present a road map for career success. The presentation will help young women and men learn how to succeed in a career while balancing that with the rest of their life. It offers practical advice, based on comprehensive research. They lay out the building blocks of a successful lifelong career, focusing on blending skills such as communication, negotiation, leadership, career path navigation, ambition, mentoring, work-life fit, and personal branding; all of which need to be done in a global environment. Each topic includes a summary of key research and offers realistic, concrete suggestions for how any woman can achieve success in both her career and life.

Prior to becoming a professor at Gettysburg College, Hamerstone was the senior vice president of human resources at Case Western Reserve University Hospital and held senior positions at TRW and digital equipment where he hired a very large number of new college graduates, both in engineering, finance, and other disciplines.
