New Student Orientation (NSO)
The New Student Orientation (NSO) is the orientation that all incoming Penn State students participate in during the summer before they arrive on campus or start their first semester classes. This section provides a brief overview of the program as well as resources referred to and provided during Smeal’s portion of NSO.
On the days you attend NSO, you will have already attended a general presentation by the university that covers general university requirements, student life, and other policies and procedures. In addition to this information, Smeal provides a college-specific academic orientation during NSO. In this presentation, we cover information about our curriculum, the entrance-to-major process within the college, and other opportunities for Smeal students. Students then work with advisers from the Smeal Advising Center to create summer and/or fall schedules while families learn more about what their students will experience in their first year and about university resources.
The Smeal College of Business will hold several live sessions throughout the 2021 summer semester to allow students to learn, connect and ask questions prior to the start of the fall semester. Dates will be added throughout the summer, so if you don’t see one that fits your schedule, check back again!
