To recognize the accomplishments of our students, the Smeal College of Business Undergraduate Scholarship Committee awards over $1,000,000 annually in scholarships and awards. Funds are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, co-curricular and leadership activities, as well as work experience.
Who receives a scholarship?
The typical recipient of a Smeal College scholarship is a sophomore or junior at the time of application, has a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher, and has unmet financial need. However, first year students are eligible to apply. The selection process is extremely competitive.
What is the amount of most scholarships?
The average scholarship award is $2,500.
Are incoming first-year students eligible for scholarships?
First-year students enrolling in the Smeal College are automatically considered for the small number of merit and need-based scholarships available. Recipients are notified by April 1st.
How can I be considered for a scholarship?
Smeal College undergraduate students must submit an on-line scholarship available through this site beginning in late March 2013. An e-mail message will be sent to Smeal students at all locations notifying them of application availability. The deadline to apply for scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year is April 30, 2013. The applicants chosen to receive a scholarship will be notified in July. Only students receiving a scholarship will be notified of an award. Because most of our scholarships require documented financial need, students should also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To find out more about the application process for the FAFSA visit the Office of Student Aid. You must be eligible to receive federal aid in order to qualify for a Smeal Scholarship.
