  1. Procedure Overview — Below are four critically important steps highlighting the requirements and procedure for application to a Smeal College of Business major:
    1. Students must be enrolled as a pre-major in the Smeal College of Business or in the Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) either at University Park or any of the other Penn State commonwealth campuses.

Important note about transfer credits for entrance-to-major courses
General transfer credits may not be used for entrance-to-major courses. Courses taken at other institutions must transfer as equivalent to the entrance-to-major courses.  Furthermore, any transfer credits for entrance-to major courses must be taken prior to the Spring of the Sophomore year, and the credits must appear on the student’s Penn State record prior to March 1st of the Sophomore year.
    4. Complete the one-time application on eLion between January 2, 2014 and February 14, 2014
  2. Successful Completion of All Entrance to Major Courses and Maintaining of Cumulative Grade Point Average through to the End of the Spring 2014 Semester
    1. Students will be reviewed at the end of the spring 2014 semester to verify they have successfully completed remaining entrance to major courses and maintained the required cumulative GPA.
    2. Admission to the major will become permanent after the Spring 2014 semester is complete if the required minimum cumulative GPA has been maintained and the entrance-to-major course requirements have been successfully completed.
    3. Students who have not successfully completed remaining entrance to major courses will no longer be eligible for a major in Smeal and will receive notification June 1, 2014 that they will be switched to Non-Degree Status as of July 1, 2014.
    4. Students who successfully completed all entrance to major courses but did not maintain the required cumulative GPA for their conditional offer will be reviewed for their possible second or third choice of major based on space availability and meeting all established course and cumulative GPA criteria for the desired major. Students will be notified through an email by mid-June 2014.
