All students must also meet the entrance-to-major requirements for the Smeal program of interest as stipulated in the applicable entrance to major requirements for students in their second year and be enrolled in DUS prior to the Entrance-to-Major process.
  7. Procedure Overview — Below are four critically important steps highlighting the requirements and procedure for application to a Smeal College of Business major:
    1. Students must be enrolled as a pre-major in the Smeal College of Business or in the Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS).
    2. DUS Students need a minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.00 at the end of their first year in order to pursue a Smeal major.
    3. Attain the required cumulative GPA for the major by the end of the fall 2008 semester and maintain that GPA through to the end of the spring 2009 semester.
    4. Successfully complete all entry to major courses by the end of the spring 2009 semester.
    5. Complete the one-time application [Entrance-to-Major module] on eLion between January 2, 2009 and Friday, February 13, 2009.
  8. Successful Completion of All Entrance to Major Courses and Maintaining of Cumulative Grade Point Average through to the End of the Spring 2009 Semester
    1. Students will be reviewed at the end of the spring 2009 semester during the period of May 19-29, 2009 to verify they have successfully completed remaining entrance to major courses and maintained the required cumulative GPA for the conditional offer.  Students are then switched into their major for summer 2009.
    2. Students who have not successfully completed remaining entrance to major courses will no longer be eligible for a major in Smeal and will receive notification June 1, 2009 that they will be switched to Non-Degree Status as of July 1, 2009.
    3. Students who successfully completed all entrance to major courses but did not maintain the required cumulative GPA for their conditional offer will be reviewed for their possible second or third choice of major based on space availability and meeting all established course and cumulative GPA criteria for the desired major.  Students will be notified through an email by June 5, 2009.
